Information you share on myBookCrate’s website

Your first name, last initial and school affiliation are displayed throughout our website (and so available to myBookCrate's members) and are connected to all of your myBookCrate activity.  If you access our website from a shared computer, certain information about you, such as your first name, last initial, school affiliation, activity or reminders from myBookCrate, may also be visible to other individuals who use the computer after you.

How we protect your personal information

myBookCrate takes precautions — including administrative, technical, and physical measures — to safeguard your personal information against loss, theft, and misuse, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.

myBookCrate cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us by e-mail, and you do so at your own risk.  You can help us by also taking precautions to protect your personal data when you are on the Internet.  Change your passwords often using a combination of letters and numbers, and make sure you use a secure web browser.

myBookCrate has safeguards in place to keep your personal information accurate, complete, and up to date for the purposes for which it is used.  Naturally, you always have the right to access and correct the personal information you have provided.

Invitations to non-Users

All invitations that you initiate through myBookCrate to non-Users will include your first and last name on the subject line and within the body of the invitation to ensure that your friends know you are the one who extended the invitation.

Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18 for marketing purposes.  If a child under 18 submits personal information to myBookCrate and we learn that that personal information is the information of a child under 18, we will attempt to delete the information as soon as possible.

Cookies and other technologies

Our website uses “cookies” and other technologies to help us understand which parts of our website is the most popular, where our visitors are going, and how much time they spend there. We gather certain information automatically and store it in log files.  This information includes Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data.  Our server automatically collects clickstream information such as the address (or URL) of the website that you came from before visiting our site, which pages you visit on our site, which browser you used to view our site and any search terms you may have entered on our site, among other things.  Our website may also use other technologies to track which pages our visitors view. This anonymous clickstream data provides our customers with a better shopping experience and helps myBookCrate understand how visitors use our website.

Our cookies do not collect personal information, and we do not combine information collected through cookies with other personal information to tell us more about you.
